Governor Cláudio Castro met today (3) with the ministers of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, and of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, to discuss vaccination against covid-19 and the resumption of tourism in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Queiroga, stressed that the State is strictly following the National Vaccination Plan (PNI). “Fortunately, we are in a more positive scenario, but we cannot fail to take all precautions. We are working to accelerate our immunization campaign and expand testing capacity. In addition, the governor has already requested extra doses of vaccine for the state,” he said.
Castro stressed that the Delta variant is a concern, “but we are working hard to continue the vaccination process to contain the advance of covid-19.”
The governor and the minister of health also spoke about the importance of the population completing the vaccination cycle. “The second dose is essential for everyone’s health. With just one dose we won’t be immune, science has shown us that. We count on everyone for the process of retaking our state. Get vaccinated”, asked the governor.
SAFE TOURISM
The minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, said that the state is one of the gateways to Latin America for national and international tourism. “We are working together to promote safe tourism for everyone arriving in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Today, the situation is under control and we continue to act preventively so that the scenario gets better and better”, assessed the minister.
Data from the State Department of Tourism show that there was an increase in demand for regions in the interior of the state this winter, jumping from 30% in June to 60.4% in July. “Tourism is fundamental for our state and we are working so that the return is done safely and responsibly, so that everyone who comes to visit Rio de Janeiro feels safe,” said Castro.
