The Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro opened this weekend the service of guided tours to the general public, with two options in electric carts and two with walking trails. For now, services will be offered only on weekends and holidays.
On the Circular Tour, vehicles make seven stops: Old Mill Headquarters, Bromeliad, Playground, Fountain of Muses, Pacheco Leão 101, Lago do Pescador and Japanese Garden. The visitor receives a bracelet to use the service and disembarks at each stop, being able to stay as long as he wishes.
Because of health restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, 70 bracelets will be made available in the morning and 70 in the afternoon. The cars can accommodate up to eight people, but will carry only five passengers over the distance. The electric car service was already offered by the Botanical Garden, free of charge, for visitors over 60, pregnant women and people with disabilities, but has been suspended since the institution’s reopening for tourism on July 9.
