F/D Grumari with lunch Grumari beach is the most beautiful and unspoiled in Rio, is precisely the fact that it has not yet been "discovered." Being one of the most beautiful Brazil beaches, it is always scenery of soap operas and in Brazilian and foreign movies. Nowadays Grumari Beach is an area of environmental protection of the city and the access to it is restricted to a limited number of vehicles. The green Forrest of the area is all preserved. There is an extension of 4 km of beach and a sympathetic fisherman colony (they guarantee the fresh fish to the "made up" restaurants under the shadow of the trees (small tables). The way to this beach is very pleasant as the scenery is a vivid and colorful costal image of Brazil. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant with delicious appetizers, seafood dishes and Brazilian dessert are served with an overlooking view to the "Marambaia Preserved Area". After lunch our return transfer to the hotel will be trough the Barra district. Barra da Tijuca district is compared to Miami at USA, a truly contrast on the Rio de Janeiro city. We will have a panoramic view of the marvelous beaches.

F/D River Rafting We offer rafting in two different rivers, both located 2 hours from Rio, offering a thrilling experience with falls of levels 2 to 4, with no need of preview experience. The difference between the two options is that the Paraibuna river has more rapids but less transparent water, and the vegetation around it is not so lush. The MacaE river has fewer rapids but the environment is more beautiful. Once we get to the Rafting Base, we change clothes, receive instructions and the safety equipment to start the rafting which takes around two hours. After the rafting we are driven back to the Base and from there return to Rio, stopping for lunch (not included) on the way back. H/D Bossa Nova Tour The tour begins in the city Center, at the Casa Villarino (Calógeras Avenue, 6). In this house, Tom and Vinicius sealed the partnership that would produce many celebrated songs. It began in 1956 when Vinicius was looking for someone to compose the Orfeu da Conceição soundtrack with. Vinicus's and Tom's first meeting was as happy as it was productive. The editing session created songs that would become ageless hits, such as the songs "Se todos fossem iguais a você" (If everyone was equal to you) and "A felicidade" (the happiness). These, among other songs, debuted in the Municipal Theater only four months after that first crucial meeting. A part of wall in Casa Villarino is dedicated to describing this period to the public. Founded in 1953, the restaurant and bar, which is also a delicatessen (with drinks, fine goods, and imported chocolate and cookies), was the meeting site of journalists, intellectuals, and artists. Today, bar and restaurant's patrons consist of the remaining original artists and those who work in the Centro and appreciate the restaurant's dishes, draft beer, and snacks. The front of the restaurant is also a popular hang out spot among members of the Academia Brasileira de Letras. Photos of all the "regulars" are on display in the house. The tour will continue on from the Centro the Cravo Albin Cultural Institute (São Sebastião Ave.) in Urca. This museum has a few of the original, fundamental Bossa Nova records, photographs and newspaper clippings, and Tom Jobim's hats. The institute, created by the researcher Ricardo Cravo Albin, has a dazzling view of the Zona Sul where guests can see the boats on Guanabara Bay and the beautiful meandering mountains surrounding the waters. Following the Cultural Institute the tour arrives at Jardim Botânico where guests will visit Espaço Tom Jobim (Jardim Botânico St, 1,008). This space is packed with documents, disks, audio tapes, manuscripts, music scores, and letters that were used to make all the shows great. The park was chosen as Tom's headquarters because he visited the park regularly and his last home was in the surrounding neighborhood. Check the date for special programs and expositions. Leaving Jardim Botânico the tour continues on to Copacabana where the popular meeting place was Garrafas, the "temple of Bossa Nova," Situated on the tiny Rua Duvivier and also close to where the nightclubs Ma Griffe, Little Club, Baccarat, and Bottle's Bar were located. Bossa Nova & Company also opened on the street (Rua Duvivier, 37), and is today a book store as well as a music store concentrating on their large Bossa Nova and MPB (Popular Music of Brazil) collection (they have over one thousand titles in stock). From Copacabana the tour moves on to Ipanema and the last stop of the day, the Vinicius Bar (Rua Vinicius de Moraes, 39 www.viniciusbar.com.br). The bar is located next to the also famous Garota de Ipanema, known for playing Bossa Nova as well. The Toca do Vinicius Store, which has been recognized as a international reference for Bossa Nova music for the past 14 years, is located on the same street, enjoy Bossa Nova's devotees paradise! Specialized in music, the store sells biographies, method and theory books, and music scores. This store is frequented by "music lovers of all tastes, origins, and age groups," and is a meeting point for those in love with Bossa Nova. After dinner, return to hotel.

H/D Favela Tour by Van - 3 hrs We visit the Rocinha slum, the largest slum in South America with around 200 thousand inhabitants, where we can watch the routine of this community, visiting local houses, day nurseries and schools. We walk through the small streets, watch the local commerce. There is also a free market with food and hand made goods from the North and Northwest regions at the Boiadeiro Square. We will leave Rocinha to visit a small favela called Vila Canoas. The difference between the two favelas (Vila Canoas with 3,000 people) gives two concepts of way of life. The highlight is to visit the "Para Ti" community school, which is supported by donations 80% is supported by you! Besides regular classes, the school teaches local kids initial computer skills and the art of making handcrafts that can also be purchased by you. H/D Jewish heritage tour Embark on a special Jewish heritage tour, which will include a selection of the following sites: The Grand Temple, the first building built in Rio with the purpose of becoming a synagogue in 1932 (a volunteer donation "Tzedakah" is appreciated), The Jewish Museum documents the history of Jews in Brazil and gives insight into the culture of the city's Jewish community - The area around Rua Alfandega is the center of Rio's old Jewish neighborhood. We will pass by Yitzchak Rabin memorial square and stop at ARI, the largest synagogue in Rio and CIB, a Jewish sports club. Our tour continues to the H. Stern's world headquarters in Ipanema, which were purpose-built for the production, supply and sale of Stern's exclusive jewelry for its worldwide network. H/D Ocean Kayaking SIB Ocean kayaking is one of the best ways to explore Rio's beautiful coast and enjoy unique views of the city and its forested mountains. We start the trip at Praia Vermelha, where the Sugar Loaf Mountain is located, and paddle for one hour to the Cotunduba Island, a few miles off-shore. There we stop for snacks, swimming and snorkeling, seeing the beauty of Rio from a totally different viewpoint. The city of Petrópolis first started as a farm where the imperial family of Brazil built its summer residence. Petrópolis is a fine mountain resort city that is famous for its museum, with a nice selection of imperial times memorabilia and many cultural activities. But Petrópolis even after the abdication of D.Pedro II retained its glory, maintaining the status of the summer residence of the President of the Republic. Petrópolis is today an independent city that is also famous for the manufacture of sports and knitwear with very good prices. You will also have time to visit Quitandinha, which was built to be the largest casino hotel in South America. Nowadays it is a place for conventions and events. Its ball-rooms in Hollywood style from the forties are open to the public.

Exact pick-up time will be advised upon reconfirmation. The city of Petropolis is located 60 km away from Rio and it has been called the Imperial City since the Emperor Pedro II. Settled by the Germans, Petropolis keeps the memory of Brazilian history with its buildings and charming streets. This tour starts with the visit to the Imperial Museum, which has been the summer residence of the Emperor D. Pedro II and here you can see furniture and objects such as the crown of gold, pearls and diamonds used by D. Pedro I and D. Pedro II. The tour will continue on the Gothic Cathedral where Princess Isabel was buried along with the tombstones of D. Pedro II and his wife. H/D Visit to Zico Football Centre Zico's Football Center was created by one of Brazil's best football players of all times. Zico represented Brazil in the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups, and scored 66 goals in 88 matches for Brazil. He was chosen 1983 Player of the Year and is considered one of the best players in football history. Zico's objective in creating a club was to guarantee continuity to work developed by the schools of his Football Center, offering children and teenagers the possibility to compete. The Center is totally equipped to receive groups and football fans, with courts and fields and the Antunes Coimbra Stadium (Zico's name). Speed Boat Cagarras Island - SIB

We will take a speedboat from Marina da Gloria, passing by interesting points like Outeiro da Gloria, II World War Memorial, MAM, Santos Dumont Airport, the famous Christ Statue, Flamengo Beach, Enseada de Botafogo and Sugar Loaf. After leaving the Guanabara Bay, we will pass in front of the Sao Joao Fortress, Forte Laje and Santa Cruz Fortress. We will continue the exciting trip, visiting Copacabana and Ipanema beaches and stopping at the Archipelago of Cagarras. In the Archipelago you see Palm Island, Cagarra Island, Son of Cagarra Island, Compressed Island, Round Island and Son of Round Island. There you will have the opportunity to take a 30 minute bath (masks and snorkels can be provided). The trip will return to the Marina da Glória after this beautiful passage where you will have been able to appreciate 5 beaches and 6 marvelous islands all in about 2 hours.

Aterro do Flamengo

Popularly known as the Aterro or landfill, its 1.2 million m² of lawns, flowering shrubs and trees are one of the loveliest and most important landscaping projects designed by Roberto Burle Marx. Running along the shoreline from the Santos Dumont Airport to Botafogo Bay, this park offers a wide array of attractions. An interesting itinerary starts at the Modern Art Museum, continuing past the Monument to World War II, the Marina da Gloria and the Carmen Miranda Museum, ending at the Monument to Estácio de Sá, founder of the City of Rio de Janeiro. An unforgettable spectacle on the first Sunday of each month is the changing of the guard by all three Armed Forces, at the Monument to World War II Soldier. On Sundays and holidays, this park is closed to traffic, offering the public numerous recreation options.

Banco do Brasil Cultural Center

Built in 1880, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center once served as the head offices of both this bank and the Rio de Janeiro Commercial Association. In 1989 it was converted into a cultural center, that today consists of two theaters, four exhibition halls, a computerized library with over 100,000 volumes, an auditorium, video rooms and a movie theater. In addition to its tasteful architecture, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center offers a packed schedule of programs that should not be missed by visitors eager to savor a wide variety of cultural offerings.

Beach Volleyball & Footvolley Lessons on Ipanema Beach

The overwhelming beauty of Brazil's beaches makes them the obvious locale for many of the country's most popular sports. You too can enjoy these national pastimes with private beach volleyball or footvolley lessons on the world-famous Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Beach volleyball, a sport dominated by Brazil in the international arena, consists of just two players per team and provides considerable fun (and exercise!) for those who play. Exciting and fast-paced, footvolley is truly a Brazilian sport, combining the format of volleyball with the skills of soccer. Footvolley allows players the use of only their heads, feet and chests. Learn how to play these beach sports in one or two-hour lessons, with Ipanema's landscape as your backdrop. You can enroll in individual classes from one to four players, or rent the court for a lively game. Private classes can be scheduled anytime between 9am to 4pm.

Beaches in Rio

Flamengo - a sheltered beach within the confines of the bay, close to downtown and frequented mainly by local residents. Adjacent is Flamengo Park, at 1.7Km long, the largest urban park in the world. Botafogo - 800 meters of wide curving sand looking towards Sugar Loaf and the Yacht Club. Scene of occasional open air concerts. Not recommend for bath due to the location (inside the bay) Urca - a small beach of less than 100 meters, inside the bay at the base of Sugar Loaf mountain.

Vermelha - named after the thick reddish sand, 245 meters long, close to the main cable car station of Sugar Loaf. Leme - a 1 km stretch of tranquil beach at the eastern end of Copacabana. Many fine restaurants can be found along the main beach avenue. Copacabana - Rio's, and perhaps the world's most famous 3km stretch of beach. Scene of much activity, from volleyball to soccer, from concerts to the world's largest New Year's party, this is one of Rio's driving forces. Arpoador - the point next to Ipanema is great for surfing or a panoramic photo. Ipanema - 2,2 km of gorgeous residential beach and string bikini's. Famous for its beautiful women, a place to see and be seen. Leblon - Right next to Ipanema, this 2.2. km long residential beach is, alas, being reclaimed by the sea.

Sao Conrado - Sandwiched in between the mountains and the ocean is São Conrado. Many of the city's elite live here, shopping regularly at the high-end Fashion Mall, while on the other side is Rocinha, the largest favela (slum) in South America. São Conrado's Pepino Beach serves as the landing strip for Rio's many hang gliders.

Barra da Tijuca - Sweeping some eighteen kilometers south of the city, this magnificent beach is the longest in Rio. Clear waters and perfect waves make this beach a favorite with surfers, boogie-boarders, windsurfers and surf-casters. Lined with colorful bars, kiosks and restaurants, this beach is attracting increasingly large crowds of visitors, particularly on weekends.

Burle Marx, Sitio

The deepest pleasure of the Rio visit was seeing the work of garden architect Roberto Burle Marx. This landscaping genius, who died in 1994 at age 85, is described by garden writer Sima Eliovson as having "the greatest single influence on gardens since the development of the English garden tradition in the 18th century." In 1965, the American Institute of Architects in Washington designated him "the real creator of the modern garden," and The Kentucky Botanic Gardens in 1985 proclaimed him "the world's greatest living landscape architect; his gardens famous for their rhythm, texture and imagination." In 1949 he acquired an estate the 365,000m2 estate Barra de Guaratiba (just outside of Rio de Janeiro) to house his growing collection of plants. This property was donated to the Brazilian government in 1985 and became a national monument. Now called Sítio Roberto Burle Marx, under the direction of IPHAN-Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional / Ministério da Cultura, it houses over 3,500 species of plants. The house was rebuilt in an valley opening on the site of a garden house belonging to the original plantation estate. Capoeira Presentation

Capoeira incorporated diverse elements of African culture including dance, music, acrobatics and various fighting forms. This style of fighting form disguised as dance has always been based on the principle of surprise and improvisation. The African people who were enslaved by the colonial Portuguese were forced to create an effective and unknown fighting form both as a means of defense and to free them from slavery. "7 Capoeiristas" will perform the presentation during lunch.

Casa de Cultura Julieta de Serpa in Rio

The mansion, architecturally eclectic, contains a Cultural Center with exhibition rooms, bookshop, restaurant and tea room. Built by the Seabra family in the 1920s, it came under the protection of preservation laws in 1996. Casa de Arte e Cultura Julieta de Serpa has grown to be one of the best eateries with a reputation for serving the best tea and afternoons snacks besides great lunch and dinners. This elegant venue gives a fantastic experience of dining with a touch of great cultural activities taking place here. Please your palette with the black forest cake, a variety of breads and elaborate dishes such as rabbit with black olive risotto.

Churrascaria

The South has contributed to what many consider Brazil's national dish, the "churrasco", or barbecue. Churrascaria restaurants serve rodizio (rotating) or espeto corrido (running sticks) style, meaning that the food, carried on skewers by waiter/chefs, comes to you. Although beef, pork, chicken and sausages have always been the traditional meats served there is always something new included in the menu.

City of Samba

Open for the public between noon and 8pm, visitors can marvel at the preparation of floats and costumes. Every Thursday night, visitors can watch a mini Carnaval parade, live show with dancers, rhythm group and "baianas". Located on Avenida Rodrigues Alves, the site has an area of 770,394.6 sq. ft over three floors, with individual space for all main Samba Schools. The space will also be available for shows, exhibitions and special events. Preparations are at full steam for one of the world's greatest events! Carnaval may seem like three days of parades and celebration for most, but at the Sambodrome (the parade stadium designed by famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer) it is actually a highly competitive event among escolas de sambas (Samba schools). The site is closed during some months.

Copacabana Beach

It's almost impossible for visitors to Rio to resist the charm of the city's eighty kilometers of beaches. Framed by the wavy black and white mosaics of Avenue Atlântica, Copacabana is one of the main reasons for this fascination. In fact, there are two separate beaches here: Leme (one kilometer) and Copacabana, (just over three kilometers). A center of activity both night and day, the beach is lined with kiosks, a bicycle path and racks, lifeguard posts, public showers and bathrooms, hotels, bars and open-air restaurants. The Military Forts at each end are open to visitors, offering panoramic views.

After pick-up at hotels tour leaves, taking the Rio / Santos highway to Itacuruça. There you will board a schooner (locally known as "saveiros"). The schooner cruises the Sepetiba Bay, an area rich in natural beauty, it is common for passengers to spot the dolphins, giant king-fishers, parrots, turtles and sting-rays. A tray of tropical fruits will be served on board and a bar is also available on the boat. After stopping for a swim, continue to the island a delicious lunch buffet will be served. After lunch,we will have time time to explore the island before returning to Itacuruça. Dinner time in Rio is around 20h00 or 21h00. Nightclubs and special parties never catch up before midnight. Go on a round-up of the gay bars, before you hit the clubs. A draft beer, a special dessert or a caipirinha are all good excuses for lounging. Some of these nighclubs have a dance floor and DJ, and you may end up staying longer than you expected. The best : Le Boy in Copacabana's Posto 6, the end near Ipanema or La Girl, the lesbian club, is smaller and more intimate.

Ipanema's gayest night spot is on the beach block of Rua Teixeira de Melo. This street is next to Farme de Amoedo (where you will find "Bofetada", a bar and café), Rio's gay beach. A combination of professionals, intellectuals, actors, fashion victims, gym bunnies, artists, models, fag hags, lesbians, and others keep things eclectic and fun. Circulate between Galeria Cafe and Spin. Dama de Ferro, on Rua Vinicius de Morais corner of Lagoa, caters to the same crowd. These clubs with have theme parties with live DJ's. Dress to kill.

Huge trees decked with orchids contrast with giant victoria-regia, lilies, bromeliads, royal poincianas and tropical foliage, making the Botanical Gardens a favorite hideaway for nature-lovers, sweethearts and all those seeking peace and tranquillity.

Rio de Janeiro - the largest Rock Climbing Urban Center in the world Rio has a firm tradition on rock climbing with reports of climbers reaching the mountain summits early in the 19th century. There are mountains for all climbers and difficulty levels all over. Besides,, climbing opens a number of choice views of the lovely scenery of the city.

There are several options for experienced climbers on most of the classic routes, the "Italian" of Sugar Loaf and "K2" at Corcovado. For beginners the perfect option is to join a half-day climbing lesson to the Sugar Loaf.

Rio de Janeiro, it is wonderful to live in a city that brings the great outdoors to your neighborhood with a plus. You don't have to pack a suitcase to go hiking or climbing, just call some friends or join one of the organized hikes on offer every day. These hikes easy to somewhat hard call for some fitness but nothing exaggerated. Prepared as a half day activity, joining one of these hikes will open a new perception of this city called by UNESCO - Rio de Janeiro: Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and the Sea

Corcovado is certainly Brazil´s most famous landmark and it deserves the title! Situated in the Tijuca National Park, a green tropical forest area covering approximately 39,5 km² (15.3 mi²), the summit you will see one of the belvedere among the many found in the city! The hike starts at Parque Lage at sea level, going up to 710 m high (2330 ft.)! The trail takes about 2h30 up and it does not involve any rock climbing! At the summit enjoy the incredible view of Rio and its most famous landmark, the impressive statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. We take the same trail back down to Parque Lage and then ride to the hotel.

Jewelry Tour Visit H. Stern's world headquarters in Ipanema which were purpose-built for the production, supply and sale of Stern's exclusive jewelry for its worldwide network. The free tour takes about 15 minutes and takes the visitor through every aspect and step to producing a finished piece. Also included is a visit to the Stern Museum which has on display the world's largest uncut gemstone collection. Brazil remains a major producer of precious and semi-precious stones (due to their limited supply few stones today are considered semi-precious). Several leading jewelry firms have their showrooms and workshops as a special attraction. A private jewelry fashion show is the perfect compliment to an elegant tea or cocktail party and is always well received by the ladies, of course.

Jockey Club Racing fans are not the only ones who will enjoy a visit to the Gávea racetrack. One of the city's historic landmarks, the Jockey Club was designed in Louis XV-style by architect Francisco Couchet, and offer sports, recreation, fashion, receptions, shows as well as - obviously - Brazil's most important horse-racing events. Located between two other tourist attractions, the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and the Botanical Gardens, it offers visitors non-stop thrills.

Juice bars Rio juice bars, which can be found on street corners all over the city, are colourful celebrations of fruits you've probably never heard of, like acerola, caqui or mamao. One to try is acai, a purple Amazonian fruit high in antioxidants that is said to be good for energy.

Lapa Arches

Located in the Largo da Carioca Square, once the center of Rio's turn-of-the-century nightlife the Arcos da Carioca arches hold their place in history as the most monumental work undertaken in colonial Rio. Originally built as an aqueduct to supply the city with water, today they carry another outstanding attraction: the scenic tramlines linking the Carioca Station downtown to the picturesque Santa Teresa district.

Lunch at Point de Grumari

Our motor minibus will be waiting the group by the beach for a short transfer to "Point de Grumari" Restaurant where delicious appetizers, seafood dishes and Brazilian dessert are served with an overlooking view to the "Marambaia Preserved Area".

After lunch our return transfer to the hotel will be trough the Barra district. Barra da Tijuca district is compared to Miami at USA, a truly contrast on the Rio de Janeiro city. We will have a panoramic view of the marvelous beaches.

Metropolitan Cathedral

Located at the city's finanical center, the cathedral is already part of the cultural itinerary of the city. The Lapa Arcs and the magnificent Petrobras building surround it. With a unique architectural design (the cathedral is shaped like a pyramid), the cathedral captures its visitor's attention with its energy and interior magnitude. The altar is located at the center of the pyramid's base and is surrounded by seats and lateral entrances.

Morro da Urca trekking

The trekking begins at the Praia Vermelha beach in Urca neighborhood, passing by the Claudio Coutinho trek to arrive at one of the main touristy sights of Rio. This area inspires the radical sports participants having this area as their playground for cooper, biking and specially hiking, The trek starts steep; it alternates with plane sections, taking 40 min to reach the Plateau where we can see a beautiful view of the Guanabara's bay and Rio downtown. From then we continue to the Morro da Urca, where the first stage of the cable car is located. The group can either come down on the same way or by cable car.

Municipal Theatre

Located near the National Library, the National Fine Arts Museum and the Pedro Ernesto Palace, the Municipal Theatre faces the spacious Cinelândia Square. Its attractive architectural design catches the eye, with its imposing facade, paralleled by the beauty of its interior decoration. Built of fine colored Carrara marble, bronze and onyx, it is outfitted with mirrors and period furniture, paintings and sculptures. Seating 2,200 people, this theater is a true temple of culture that is just as popular with visitors as the performances staged here.

Museum - Banco do Brasil Cultural Center

Built in 1880, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center once served as the head offices of both this bank and the Rio de Janeiro Commercial Association. In 1989 it was converted into a cultural center, that today consists of two theaters, four exhibition halls, a computerized library with over 100,000 volumes, an auditorium, video rooms and a movie theater. In addition to its tasteful architecture, the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center offers a packed schedule of programs that should not be missed by visitors eager to savor a wide variety of cultural offerings.

Museum - Chácara do Céu

This museum, located in the bohemian Santa Teresa neighborhood, contains a collection of nearly 8 thousand pieces of paintings, engravings, drawings and sculptures. Its most prominent exhibitions include works byMatisse, Modigliani, Monet, Dali, Picasso, Di Cavalcanti and Portinari. Museum - Historical Museum of the Republic

The Catete Palace was constructed between 1858 and 1866 and served as the Presidential residence of the Republic from 1897 until 1960 when it was transformed into a museum. The collection tells the history of the Republic with special insight on ex-president Getúlio Vargas, who committed suicide inside the palace. Museum - Modern Art Museum MAM

Inaugurated in 1958, the Modern Art Museum has a very unusual history. It has a privileged location on Flamengo Park alongside Guanabara Bay, close to downtown. After a disastrous fire in 1978, hundreds of people all over the world flocked to rebuild this cultural treasure, helping repair the building (130 meters x 25 meters) and replace its collections. It currently houses some 11,000 works including paintings, sculptures and engravings by Brazilian and foreign artists, in addition to a specialized art library and a well-known cinemathèque that is among the most popular in town.

Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Niteroi

Its main attraction is the actual museum´s building itself, designed by world-renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. MIAN - International Primitive Art Museum Rio is home to the world's largest and most complete collection of primitive art. Museum - National History Museum

It occupies buildings dating from 1765 which were originally used by the military, and is the largest historical museum in Brazil. Its collection comprises some 200,000 exhibits, including weaponry, sacred art, ceramics, jewelry, painting, furniture, silverware, medals and coins, rare books and manuscripts. Also included is a collection of carriages and coaches, a 19th century pharmacy and an imposing display of artillery in the Patio dos Canhões (Courtyard of Cannons).

Museum - National Museum of Fine Art (MNBA)

Informally established since 1908 as the Academy of Fine Arts and inaugurated officially in 1937, the MNBA (Museu Nacional de Belas Artes) shelters the most important expositions in Rio. Its collection of 14,000 pieces is an exposition of rotating works reflecting all of Brazil's significant artistic genres and periods. The museum hosts paintings by Brazilian artists such as Cândido Portinari, Di Cavalcanti, Tarsila do Amaral and Lasar Segall, as well as foreign works by Debret, Boudin, Picasso and Rodin. Av. Museum - Palácio Imperial da Quinta da Boa Vista The Imperial Palace of the Quinta da Boa Vista (constructed in 1600) was the preferred residence of the emperors of Imperial Brazil. Today it serves as a national museum and a zoological garden. The collection features 10,000 pieces over an area of 3,800 square meters. Among the collection's items are fossils of the giant tree sloth, Egyptian antiques, fine dining ware from the Orient and various belongings of the Brazilian emperors. Niterói

The Indians called Guanabara Bay the area from the bay's entrance until mainland and called the Ilha das Cobras (Snake Island) Niteroi, which means " hidden waters".
The proximity between Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi, at the same time united and separated by the Guanabara Bay, created strong historical, economic, and political ties between the two cities.
Despite all this beauty, Niteroi has a lot more to offer. Its history is recorded in its chapels, fortresses, museums, and centennial churches that truly treasures of colonial architecture.
Another attraction is the Parque da Cidade (City's Park) inaugurated in 1976 and today an area of ecological preservation. It has an area of approximately 149,390 squared meters. Niteroi tour

After lunch tour continues on the Niemeyer deep discover of the Niemeyer master pieces along the Niemeyer pathway ending at the Contemporary Art Museum (MAM), designed also by Niemeyer himself. You will have one of the best view for Rio de Janeiro (almost 360º view), located by the Guanabara Bay. Unique opportunity to understand the topography of this city. The group will be guided by an architecture professor.

Olodum Presentation A presentation inspired on the most popular Bahian group known as Olodum (Olodum Band has played with Gal Costa, Jimmy Cliff and Paul Simon), which expresses the energy and feelings of the black Bahia community through the rhythms of rap, reggae and sambe-reggae typically played by large drum corps with surdos, cuicas, repiniques, and tamborims and impels people to move in unison. Percussion lessons We will have the lesson with professional samba school's percussionists. They will bring several instruments that are part of the Carnival.

Pic Nic Lunch at Mesa do Imperador Located at Serra da Carioca at the Monkey sector, the Mesa do Imperador (Table of the Emperor) is one of the most beautiful mirantes of the National Park of Tijuca. At this perfect nature atmosphere, we will provide a pic nic lunch for the group at this wonderful place where they will be in touch with the nature all time. Rio by night with Rio Scenarium

Available from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Rio Scenarium is closed on Sundays and Mondays. If there was an award for most beautiful bar, Rio Scenarium would certainly deserve it. Located in a renovated warehouse on the edge of Lapa, Rio Scenarium is an antique store-turned-bar. All the items you see are part of the inventory and many of its props have been used on movie sets. Head up to the second floor and you'll even find the full contents of an old-fashioned pharmacy, furniture, carriages, and many more items. This lovely building is the perfect setting for traditional Brazilian samba and choro. The acoustics are excellent and the tables centered around the stage and dance floor, or on the second floor, by the window, give everybody a great view. Tour is available without dinner (3 hours), with stop for dinner (5 hours) and with barbecue dinner included (5 hours).

Rio-Niteroi Bridge

Opened to vehicle traffic on March 5, 1974, its true name is President Costa e Silva Bridge and it is the largest bridge in the world in terms of construction volume. It is 13.9 kilometers long and 20 meters wide. The total constructed area is 210,600 square meters; it is the largest structure of its kind to this date

Samba School rehearsal No other music is more "Brazilian" than the samba, and nothing is more authentic than "samba school". In the evening, you will visit one of these "escolas de samba" as they open their dance floors for "rehearsals"(a combination of a party and a pep rally), in preparation for the coming Carnival. Santa Teresa Street Car Like so many places in the world, the neighborhood of Santa Teresa was built on faith around a convent. You can often hear the locals say "I am Santa Teresa" which is how they endearingly refer to their neighborhood. Spend a weekend in Santa Teresa climbing the slopes, discovering the lookouts and curves in the streets which surprise you at every turn with magnificent views of Guanabara Bay, visiting the workshops and finally relaxing in a typical tavern to the sound of a " chorinho", a sad, Brazilian love song. But amidst the fun and joy of this neighborhood, you can also meditate with the Buddhist monks and see the convent of cloistered nuns as if they were praying for us on high! Open your heart! Be aware of your feelings. Take it easy, because time doesn't mean much here. Look, listen, savor, touch and feel all that this incomparable neighborhood has offer and when you leave Santa Teresa don't be surprise if a little of it (most likely the richest and most creative part) remains forever in your heart. Then, you can also say: " I am Santa Teresa!"

São Bento Monastery Work began on the Mont Serrat Church and the São Bento Monastery in 1617, continuing through to 1669. A hundred years later, a series of renovations expanded and restored these historical sites - and it was certainly worth the wait. Ranked as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this monastery stands out for the startling contrast between its austere facade with its triangular front and the intricately-worked gilded wooden carvings decorating the interior of its church. The paintings, works of art, design of the chapels and the roof of the nave - dating back to the XVIII Century - and its Gregorian plainchant choir all ensure that the São Bento Monastery will enchant every visitor.

São Cristóvão Fair - Luiz Gonzaga Northeastern Traditions Center A bit of Brazilian Northeast in Rio.It is a way to define the Luiz Gonzaga Northeast Traditions Centre, where the traditional São Cristovão Fair is held. About 700 permanent tents offer a sample of Brazilian Northeast culture, such as tipical food, handcrafts, forró players, dance, singers and popular poets and also folk literature. The fair attracts visitors from all over the country and abroad. Every month about 450 thousand tourists and local people visit it. It is a free-entry place , with a good substructure displaying places for dancing, stages for shows, 35 tipical Northeastern restaurants, handcraft shops, toilets and parking.

SIB Round trip transfers Hotel / Carnival Parade / Hotel This evening approximately between 18h00 and 20:00 you will be transferred to the Sambodrome to see the Carnival Parade. We will have staff available at the Sambadrome. After midnight, the shuttle bus will be available by the end of each Samba School Parade – every 90 minutes. Soccer match at Maracanã (only on Sundays) After the lunch the group will go to the world's most famous football stadium, the Maracanã to watch this one of a kind match. Football is the sport which inspires most passion among Brazilians. Brazil is five times world cup winner and it is known as the land of the Football. The country stops working during the World Cups as everyone gets together to support the team. Also, Brazil has a reputation for playing particularly beautiful footbal and many of the world's best football players come from the country.

Subway It is not an attraction but a very easy way to go from one place to another in Rio since it has good transportation services. There are many bus routes that cover the entire Zona Sul (beach area), just guide yourself by the seafronts. Rio's subway, which is considered one of the safest means of transportation in the city, has two lines. In line 1, Tijuca is linked to Copacabana passing through many downtown stops, Glória, Catete, Largo do Machado, Flamengo and Botafogo. Line 2 leaves Rio's central area (Estacio) and goes to the Zona Norte neighborhoods such as São Cristóvão, Maracanã, Triagem, Maria da Graça, Del Castilho until Pavuna, the final stop.

Tijuca Forest Home to hundreds of species of plants and wildlife, many threatened by extinction, found only in the Atlantic Rainforest, this is the world's largest urban forest, covering some 3,200 hectares. Its historical attractions and enchanting nooks are well worth a leisurely visit. Transfer to Corcovado in Harley Davidson motorcycles The group will be lead to Corcovado in original Harley Davidson Motorcycles!!! The Motorcycles will be driven by their owners, dressed in typical costumes and participants will take a ride. 15 Motorcycles will be used. We do need to know in advance the correct number of participants that will be transferred to the Corcovado by Harley Davidson, in order to provide this service and give you rates accordingly.

Passengers will be met at the arrival gate and will be accompanied to the hotel. Guide will assist passengers with handling of luggage at the airport, at the hotel and check-in procedures. Gratuities are not included.

Visit to the Barra district

We will leave the hotel for visit to the new district of Rio de Janeiro, Barra da Tijuca. On the way we will have the possibility of visiting the Burle Max Museum the most famous Brazilian landscaper. The colonial building holds precious art goods: Drawings of Braque and from the French architect Le Corbusier, Nordic crystals, ceramics from Vale do Jequitinhonha region, baroque saints, pre-Colombian ceramics, and many others art goods. There are also drawings and pictures from Burle Max himself. On the gardens the beauty is unique. We will also visit the Pontal Museum and the Grumari beach. Grumari beach is the most beautiful and unspoiled in Rio, is precisely the fact that it has not yet been "discovered." Being one of the most beautiful Brazil beaches, it is always scenery of soap operas and in Brazilian and foreign movies. Nowadays Grumari Beach is an area of environmental protection of the city and the access to it is restricted to a limited number of vehicles. The green Forrest of the area is all preserved. There is an extension of 4 km of beach and a sympathetic fisherman colony (they guarantee the fresh fish to the "made up" restaurants under the shadow of the trees (small tables). The way to this beach is very pleasant as the scenery is a vivid and colorful costal image of Brazil.

Winners Parade Ticket - Bleacher - SATURDAY

Six Samba Schools parade on the Saturday of Winners, which is the first Saturday after Carnival: Champion and Vice-champion of Access Group A, fourth, third place of Special Group, Champion and vice-Champion of the Special Group. Sector 9 is the tourist sector which means that tickets for there are mainly sold abroad and are priced significantly higher. This is the most expensive sector, because of the infrastructure that it offers to the clients private entrance, strong security, different options for food, shops, convenience stores. Besides all that, the major difference on sector 9, is the only sector, that has marked seats on the bleachers (and they accommodate 2300 people which sectors 3,5,7 and 11 accommodates 2900 people with the same size). Bleachers seats ("arquibancadas") are on big concrete steps. Besides the advantage of having marked seats, the Sector 9 has also another advantage. The drummers of every school stop, perform and play in the drummers' niche (between Sector 9 and 11) where the atmosphere is the most heated and intense. Sundays and Mondays. The Parade starts at 9 p.m. and goes on until sunlight the next day, around 5-6 a.m. Each samba school has a time of 70 to 80 minutes to make it through the runway.
