With an investment of R$ 130 million, the new Salvador Convention Center (CCS), located on the edge of Boca do Rio was opened , in a ceremony for guests and authorities. During a press conference, Mayor ACM Neto spoke about the importance of the new equipment. “Our expectation is that the city can have a high occupation all year round, can attract business tourism, major national and international events. We bet that this is the main investment, which in the medium term will bring an economic return very important for the city of Salvador “, he pointed out.
Events
The expectation is that the equipment will receive, in up to three years, about 100 events per year, with an audience of around 500 thousand people. In 2020, 20 events have already been confirmed.
The first will be a corporate event of Polishop, in March, which will bring together for two days, four thousand people from all over Brazil. Afropunk, the Bahia Book Biennial, Superbahia – Supermarkets Fair and Yes Show Room – Furniture Fair, which will take place for the first time in the Bahian capital, have also been announced.
Large fairs and congresses can generate between one thousand and two thousand temporary jobs in the capital of Bahia. In addition, the City Hall and the tourist trade estimate that the new Salvador Convention Center will generate an economic movement of up to R $ 500 million per year in the 50 sectors related to tourism.
Investment
R$ 130 million was invested in the construction of the new Salvador Convention Center. The works started in September 2018 and were completed in January this year.
The CCS has a capacity for 14 thousand people simultaneously for internal events and 20 thousand for concerts. The parking lot holds 1,480 vehicles. GL Events is expected to invest R$ 50 million in 25 years of concession, R$ 25 million more than that established in the contract with the City Hall, an amount that goes to facilities, equipment and furniture.
“GL, which is the operator of this equipment, is very satisfied with the result of the searches that have already taken place. In the next 3 years there are already 130 confirmed events”, said the mayor.
